The Customer
Our customer is a semiconductor company creating a family of Storage processors to enable the next generation of Storage networking products such as SAN edge switches, core switches, appliances etc.
The Challenge
Our customer has an Intelligent Storage Processor and Intelligent Storage Controller product that provides advanced SAN services, virtualization services and copy services for fabric switches, routers, appliances, storage arrays and blade servers. The customer had legacy drivers for the storage virtualization acceleration device. The requirement was to port, enhance and test the suite of drivers to Windows 2000(WDM). The device had both PCI and ethernet interface on it.
The Solution |
The work involved :
-
Porting to WDM architecture
-
Adding PnP Functionality
-
PnP support for ethernet through implementation of a bus driver.
-
Adding features like Scatter Gather DMA, reading and writing Device RAM, downloading firmware, support for multiple devices.
-
Testing the drivers.
Having experience in these areas the work was completed in 3 months time.
